Red yeast Extract
Red yeast, a traditional Chinese medicine name. It is made from the mycelium of the fungus Monascus purpureus Went, which grows on japonica rice. It is distributed in Hebei, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Taiwan, Fujian, Guangdong and other places. It has the effects of strengthening the spleen and promoting digestion, as well as promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. It is often used to treat indigestion, abdominal distension, bloody or white diarrhea, prolonged lochia after childbirth, and injuries from falls or strikes.
Specification: Monacolin-K 3%-5%
1.Red yeast rice contains the natural component Monacolin K, which can inhibit the key enzyme for cholesterol synthesis (HMG-CoA reductase), thereby reducing the level of low-density lipoprotein (the "bad cholesterol"). Studies have shown that its mechanism of action is similar to that of statin drugs, but with a lower content. It can be used as a dietary adjustment option for people with mild hyperlipidemia.
2.Promote digestion and improve intestinal health
The enzymes produced during the fermentation process (such as amylase, protease) can help break down food and alleviate bloating or indigestion. At the same time, the dietary fiber and probiotic metabolites in red yeast rice can regulate the balance of intestinal flora and enhance digestive function.
3.Antioxidation and Immune Enhancement
Monascus Red contains monascus pigments (such as monascus red pigment and monascus yellow pigment), which have the effect of eliminating free radicals and delaying cell aging. Animal experiments have shown that it can enhance the activity of immune cells, but the specific effects on humans still need more research to verify.
Other effects in traditional Chinese medicine applications
4.According to traditional Chinese medicine, red yeast rice can promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, strengthen the spleen and aid digestion. It is often used to alleviate pain caused by poor blood circulation or to assist in treating symptoms such as poor appetite and abdominal distension, which are related to weakness of the spleen and stomach.
