Dihydroberberine
Dihydroberberine, also known as dihydro coptisine, is a hydrogenated derivative of berberine and is also a metabolite of berberine. Therefore, it has a stronger oral bioavailability than berberine. Studies have shown that the absorption rate of dihydroberberine in the body is five times that of berberine. In an experiment on rats, the drug concentration in the blood of rats at the same time point: transdermal administration of dihydroberberine > transdermal administration of berberine > oral berberine. In another clinical experiment, compared with oral administration of 500mg berberine, taking a lower dose of 100mg or 200mg dihydroberberine can achieve higher bioavailability.
