Flos Sophorae Extract Powder  
Styphnolobium japonicum (L.) Schott is a deciduous tree belonging to the genus Styphnolobium of the Leguminosae family. Its bark is dark gray, and the tree crown is spherical. As it ages, it may become flattened or obovate. The branches and leaves are densely grown, with pinnate compound leaves. The inflorescence is terminal, the flowers are butterfly-shaped, and they bloom yellowish-white in summer, with a slight fragrance. The legumes are fleshy, clustered, and do not split, being yellowish-green. They often hang from the tree branches and do not fall off until winter. Inside, there are seeds. The seeds are kidney-shaped and dark brown.
The tree is native to northern China and grows in the hot and humid regions of southern and southwestern China. It is most commonly seen in the Yellow River Basin, the North China Plain, and the Jianghuai region. It is also cultivated in Vietnam, Japan, Korea, and countries in Europe and America. It prefers sunlight but can tolerate some shade. It can adapt to cold climates and has deep and well-developed roots.
