Cordyceps Militaris Extract
Cordyceps militaris (L. exfr.) Link.) is a fungus of the genus Cordyceps in the family Ergomyaceae. It is also known as Northern Cordyceps sinensis or Northern Cordyceps, and is abbreviated as Cordyceps militaris. Cordyceps militaris is a complex composed of two parts: the stroma (i.e., the grass part) and the sclerotium (i.e., the carcass part of the insect). The stroma emerge singly or in groups from the host's head, sometimes from the segments of the insect's body. They are orange-yellow in color, generally unbranched, but sometimes branched. They are 3 to 5 centimeters tall, with the head shaped like a stick, 1 to 2 centimeters long and 3 to 5 millimeters thick, and the surface is rough. The ascotyl is exposed and nearly conical. The outer layer of the head is buried at the bottom, measuring 400 to 500 micrometers by 4 to 5 micrometers, and contains 8 striform spores. The spores are slender and almost fill the ascaria, about 1 micrometer in diameter. When mature, they produce transverse septa and break into small segments 2 to 3 micrometers long. The handle of the sub-base is nearly cylindrical, 2.5 to 4 centimeters long, and solid inside.
